Mutations in this gene are associated with proximal renal tubular acidosis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008] PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit smaller birth size, growth retardation, postnatal lethality, bowel obstructions, altered blood chemistry, acidosis, spleen defects and defects in ion homeostasis.
