The cohesin complex holds together sister chromatids and facilitates accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis and meiosis. PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit embryonic and neonatal lethality with cardiac defects, craniofacial abnormalities, axial skeletal defects, shortening of most of the long bones, abnormal enteric nervous system morphology, and decreased germ cells. [provided by MGI curators]
