PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit disintegration of the outer-plus-inner-segment and outer nuclear layers, reduced amplitudes of a- and b-waves under scotopic conditions and swollen mitochondria in the inner segment following exposure to intense light.
